This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
FFM-1 "Mogami" and FFM-2 "Kumano" were approved for construction in the fiscal year 2008 budget and are the latest type of destroyers specialized for minesweeping missions against advanced mines, equipped with sonar for anti-mine warfare, autonomous underwater-vehicle (UUV) mine detection, and unmanned surface vehicle (USV) for mine clearance.
Most of the outfitting is installed on the inside of the sloping port side to improve stealth, and the ship's distinctive unicorn-shaped composite antenna and pyramidal mast with multi-function radar on four sides set the ship apart from previous destroyers.
