Among the Panzer IV tanks that were used throughout World War II and continued to support the advance of the German Army, the G type was the first to be equipped with a long-barrel 7.5cm gun. Produced from March 1942 to June 1943, early production models were characterized by the use of rounded muzzle brakes. At the time, the German armed forces were struggling with the short-barreled Panzer IV tanks against the formidable T34 medium tank on the Russian front, and the Panzer IV G type became a valuable force that could compete with the T34 for the first time. In addition, the medium-sized military motorcycle equipped with a two-stroke single-cylinder 350cc engine is lightweight and easy to handle, and is highly reliable and can withstand harsh Russian climate conditions, making it useful for communications such as messengers and reconnaissance. It was used not only on the Russian front, but also on various fronts in Europe and North Africa until the late war. This model kit from Tamiya includes a Panzer IV Type G and a messenger motorcycle. All the characteristics of the early-production version of this tank are captured, such as the rounded single-hole muzzle brake. The eye-catching and powerful long-barreled 7.5cm gun is realistically modeled, and is based on detailed research conducted on actual vehicles. The tracks are a connected assembly type that integrates the straight parts for a three-dimensional finish; the subtle sagging at the top is realistically expressed. The messenger bike features a reduced number of parts for ease of assembly; full-bodied figures of three crew members, a motorcycle soldier, and a tank corps commander are included.
